Our registered vet nurse, Lindsey Raven is also a regional coordinator for the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA). Lindsey organises regular seminars for nurses in the local area and on this occasion one dedicated to poultry nursing.
Our own vet, Robin Creighton, who specialises in poultry medicine hosted the seminar and discussed common conditions presented in practice and how he would treat them. He also brought one of his own chickens along so correct handling techniques could be practised.
Lindsey received great feedback from the delegates. Poultry pets are not commonly seen in general practice, but deserve high quality treatment and nursing care just like our canine and feline patients.
