The scheme works in much the same way as other Watch schemes in the county, and calls for dog walkers to contact the police or partnership agencies to report suspicious activity or concerns, such as the ones listed below.
Dog Watch helps by improving communication between owners / walkers and the police who have a keen interest in helping to reduce and prevent crime, and help to keep the areas in which you live, work or visit - cleaner and safer places to enjoy.
You may note the following whilst walking the dog and you are encouraged to actively report any concerns:
- Suspicious activity / vehicles
- Graffiti / vandalism
- Nuisance vehicles / speeding
- Anti-social behaviour
- Fly-tipping
- Dog fouling
- Hare-coursing
- Dog related incidents
- Abandoned vehicles
Dog Watch also encourages responsible dog ownership locally and in the countryside.
