Our 5th consult room has been renamed as 'Emma's Room' in memory of one of our veterinary nurses - Emma Hales (Turner) VN. Emma worked with us for 17 years and sadly passed away at the age of 32. Today, members of Emma's family visited the room and with many members of staff who worked closely with her we remembered her and shared our memories...
In memory of Emma Hales (Turner) VN 30.12.1978 – 28.11.2010
Emma joined Bayer, Garrett and Freeman on Coggeshall Road at the age of 15, initially as part of the young persons Trident project. She went on to train as a Veterinary Nurse and qualified on the 23rd October 2000. She was a very valued member of our nursing team and amongst other things was instrumental in setting up our successful Puppy Playskool which continues today. Reception work was as important to her as hands on nursing and Emma felt strongly that working in both areas of the practice was key to being a good Veterinary Nurse.
Emma had a passion for children and animals. A busy Mum, veterinary nurse, breeding her Labrador Rosie and running her own childminding business when not working with us, Emma worked hard and loved life. She would give the children under her care many great experiences, arranging visits to Braintree Fire Station and of course the vets to name a few! Emma would organise different projects for the children to learn about each term. She also volunteered for Parc and held the position of PTA Chair at her children’s primary school.
Emma would have celebrated her 40th birthday in 2018 with her partner Neil and children – Luke, Holly Leah-Paige and Samuel; and family. Very sadly Emma’s life was cut short at the age of 32. She is missed by everyone that knew and worked with her and our new 5th consult room has been named in her memory.
