Puppy Preskool & Training

Studies show us that well planned early socialisation is vital for your puppy to grow into a balanced, well behaved and well mannered adult dog.  A dog who is able to cope with their changing environment and daily challenges that they will face throughout their life. Their socialisation period starts at 3 weeks old, not long after their ears and eyes open - so it is paramount that you talk to the breeder of your puppy about the type of environment they have been raised in, meet them in person at their premises and meet the mum and her litter of pups.   The initial phase of socialisation, the period that will shape your puppy's behaviour the most, ends at 12 (to 14 weeks).  Most owners pick up their new puppies at 8 weeks of age, when 5 weeks of this critical period has already passed.  This emphasises the importance of sourcing your puppy from a reputable breeder who can give you an exact history from birth. You need to plan how you are going to continue their socialisation education so you can give them the best possible chance in growing into an outgoing and sociable adult.  We can help, read on ...
